But then Lord Shiva came there and Ganesh prevented him from going inside. There was a lot of controversy about this matter between Lord Ganesha and Shiva and Lord Shiva cut his head in anger. Seeing this scene, Mother Parvati is very angry, after which Lord Shiva gave a promise to Parvati to give him a new life. After this incident, Lord Shiva sent his colleagues to look for a head, those people brought the head of an elephant and gave it to them. Lord Shiva gave the head of the elephant to Ganesha’s torso and gave him a new life after which Lord Ganesha was called as Gajanan.
