Creating a Tricolor
The history of our national flag is also very interesting. In the 20th century when our country was struggling to get rid of the British government’s slavery, freedom fighters felt the need for a flag because the flag was a symbol of freedom. In 1904, Vivekananda’s disciple Sister Nivedita created a flag for the first time, which was later known by the Sister Nivedita flag. This flag was made of red and yellow colors. For the first time, a three-color flag was brought in the protest against the partition of Bengal in 1906 by Shatchindra Kumar Bose. In this flag, the saffron color was used on the top, the yellow in the middle and the green at the bottom was used. On the saffron color, the 8th lotus flowers were white in color. A half crescent moon with star and bright sun were available in the green color band.
In 1908, Sir Bhikaji Cama waved the Tricolor flag in Germany and the green color was the top of this tricolor, the saffron in the middle, the red at the bottom. Reflecting religious unity in this flag; Green was a symbol of Islam, and Kesariya was a symbol of both Hindu and White Christian and Buddhist religions. In this flag also Vande Mataram was written in Devanagari and at the top 8 lotus was made. This flag was prepared jointly by Bhikaji Cama, Veer Savarkar and Shyamji Krishna Verma. At the time of World War I, this flag was known as the Berlin Committee Flag because it was adopted by the Indian revolutionaries in the Berlin Committee.
In 1916, Pingali Venkaiya envisioned a flag which tied all the Indians in a formula. His initiative was to tie all people of India together. Pingali with Boman Ji and Umar Somani Ji, these three worked together to form a ‘National Flag Mission’. Venkaiah consulted with the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhiji advised him to keep Ashok Chakra in the middle of this flag, which would be an indication of the tie the whole of India in a formula. On the background of Pingali Venkaiah Lal and green, the Ashoka Chakra was brought on the backdrop but Gandhiji did not like this flag which could represent entire India. After making the national flag, the flag of Pingali Venkayya became popular among the people by the name of Venkayya
